Going to the dogs isn't always a bad thing!!

As reported in the West Side Sun News on December 21, 2006:

Young, tenacious and active.  Those aren't words usually used to describe nursing home residents.

But that's the case with Sam, a three-pound bundle of brown and black furriness - one of the newest residents at St. Augustine Manor on Detroit Avenue.

"He's just been a wonderful asset," said Dana Carns, marketing director.  "The residents have grown so attached to him".

The tiny Pomeranian mix fits in a basket attached to a walker, used by Helen Spinelli.

"He just loves to be in that basket," Carns said.

She said Sam (short for St. Augustine Manor) is great company for all the residents at St. Augustine.

"He gets them up walking, he gives them something to talk about," Carns said.  "He gives them something to love and care about."
