Your donations are critical to serving the needs of others!

Who We Serve:

  • Over 800 individuals annually
  • 76% Medicaid Population
  • A younger population than most facilities with individuals ages 18-100+.  27% of Residents are under the age of 64. (see graph)
  • Higher % of individuals with multiple chronic conditions. Acuity level of Residents is 2.29% vs. the State Avg. of 1.99%. 43.5% of St. Augustine residents have acute episode or chronic flare-ups and 52% have conditions/diseases that make them unstable. (see graph)
  • Higher % of residents who are completely dependent on staff for their everyday care.(see graph)

Medicaid cuts created an additional $1.5 million shortfall this year for a total of approximately $52 per Medicaid resident per day

What does this mean?

Donations are Critical in Providing the Quality Care and Services each person deserves.

  • Serving those with higher needs and higher level of dependency requires higher staffing levels. Acuity based reimbursement does not provide for adequate staffing levels. Donations allow us to  provide staffing levels based on the needs of the residents.

  •  The Medicaid reimbursement formula is based on direct care costs of the lowest 25th percentile of homes in Ohio. Higher spending on resident care and programs result in higher quality outcomes. Donations provide equipment & technology that allow us to provide Quality Care.

  • Out of pocket costs are higher for facilities that care for the sickest, poorest and frailest. Donations cover the $52 per resident per day shortfall  between the cost of care provided the Medicaid Reimbursement

  • Serving a larger age range, requires a variety of programs, activities, services to engage residents of varying ages and abilities. Donations  allow us to offer a variety of programs and activities to engage residents of all abilities and improve Quality of Life

  • Homes located in low income areas have atypical costs yet they provide access to a vulnerable population. Utility costs and capital improvements are significantly higher in older buildings than in newer ones. For example, gas and electric runs approx. $47,000 per month. There are no incentives for capital improvements. Donations provide for costly capital improvements and energy saving technologies which enhance the Life Giving Environment for all who call St. Augustine Home.
